From Forensics to Freelance - I've covered births, deaths and marriages!
I’m Emily - the heart behind Picture Purple Photography - and I’m a photographer through and through.
I spent 7 years working at Kodak and 14 years working in forensic photography.
I’m now a married mum of two and work as a freelance photographer specialising in Wedding, Portrait and New Born photography in Guildford, and the neighbouring areas of Surrey.
Every one of the skills I learnt as an experienced Forensic Photographer makes me a better photographer. I walk away from my forensic career highly skilled in a variety of photographic techniques, covering both capture and post production.
For me, the only difference between freelance and forensics (aside from the obvious!) is the ability to be creative. I’m an 'arty-farty' soul and because photography is second nature to me, I have the freedom to let my imagination run wild; providing creative bespoke imagery tailored to each of my clients.
I believe in capturing moments that matter- the genuine, unposed images that reflect the true spirit of people and events. With a lifetime of experience spanning both analog and digital photography, I blend quality with affordability to deliver images that evoke memories and emotions for years to come. My approach is warm, friendly and family orientated, creating a relaxed environment where everyone can be themselves, from newborns to grown-ups.
As a parent myself I understand the beauty and challenges of each stage of life, and I'm here to document it all authentically - no filters, no sugar coating, just the real heartfelt essence of each moment.
I'm lucky enough to have done some adventurous and exciting things before having our two kids (like snowboarding, wing walking and climbing Mnt. Kilimanjaro), but these days you can find me tucked up on the sofa with a glass of wine watching Silent Witness, telling my gorgeous husband why it's not realistic (the poor thing)!
Being a photographer isn't just a job - it's what I am!
